La Diva not competing with Rachelle Ann Go
The girls of singing trio La Diva maintained there is no competition between them and new fellow Kapuso star Rachelle Ann Go. Kumbaga siya, as solo singer, tapos kami, as a group, so walang competition,” said petite belter Jonalyn Viray on “Unang Hirit,” May 19. Added member Maricris Garcia, “We’ve known Rachelle even nung nasa Dos (ABS-CBN) pa siya. We’re happy that she’s Kapuso now.” Viray also believes that competing with others is not healthy because “hindi magiging maganda ‘yong singing.” Both acts are products of singing contests on GMA-7. Viray and Garcia emerged as grand champions of “Pinoy Pop Superstar” Season 1 and Season 3, respectively, while Aicelle Santos was a runner-up in Season 2. Their group was formed during their stint on the now defunct variety show “SOP.” Go, meanwhile, won top prize on “Search For A Star.” For six years, she was part of the long-running show “ASAP” before joining “Party Pilipinas” earlier this year. The award-winning group feels happy that their local success is slowly materializing abroad as well. “Nakakatuwa kasi nakikilala na ‘yong La Diva sa ibang bansa.
